DAYTIME ART ENRICHMENT

8Y-16Y 6 WEEKS $110

This studio course introduces students to the fundamentals of observational drawing through direct study from life. Working with a variety of traditional media including graphite, charcoal pencil, vine charcoal, pen, and ink students will develop confidence in seeing and translating what they observe onto the page.
Through a series of structured exercises and longer studies, students will explore contour drawing, gesture, and observational techniques that strengthen hand-eye coordination and visual awareness. Core concepts include value and shading, one-point perspective, composition, negative space, expressive mark making, and the process of refining a drawing from initial sketch to finished work.
Emphasis is placed on developing technical skills while encouraging experimentation and personal expression. By the end of the 6 weeks, students will have built a strong foundation in drawing techniques and gained a deeper understanding of form, light, space, and composition through the practice of drawing from life.
